ABOUT

Paul Edwards has held down the same job for twenty-one years. Race car driver. He started his driving career racing karts at age twelve. From there he never looked back. In the course of five years in karting, Paul acquired 45 race wins, netting 6 championships; 2 Western USA and 4 California State. 

His career highlights include Formula Ford and Formula Palmer Audi Winter Championship titles, British Formula Opel Championship, and grabbing 3rd in the European Formula Drivers championship the same year. He was the first American in twenty years to capture pole position in the British Formula 3 Championship, and was a Red Bull finalist in the Red Bull F1 Driver Search.

In 2008, he won the GT Championship in the Grand Am Rolex Series. He has posted 12 wins, 13 podiums, and over 30 top 10 finishes as a Factory GM driver in the Rolex Series. In that same year, he was the first Team USA Scholarship winner to win in a Formula 1 at the famed Monaco in the Monte Carlo Historic F1 race, driving a vintage 1976 Penske PC-3 Formula 1 car.

CAREER

2011 GM Factory Driver
Edwards moves to the Daytona Prototype class for the 2011 GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series season. He'll co-drive fulltime with Antonio Garcia in the No. 90 Spirit of Daytona Racing Chevrolet/Coyote.

 

 

2010 GM Factory Driver
First season racing the # 07 GT Corvette for Leighton Reese’s Banner Racing, with new teammate, five-time World Superbike and World AMA Champion, Scott Russell. A hard-fought season, coming up with a stellar win at Montreal, 3 podiums and 7 top 10s for the season, and top driver for fastest laps in the series.

 

 

2009 GM Factory Driver
Won at Homestead, racing the GXP.R, finishing 4th in the Rolex GT Championship due to missing a race because of a mid-season shoulder injury from an unrelated mountain bike incident.

 

 

2008 GM Factory Driver
Won the Rolex Series Championship in the GT class with Banner Racing’s GXP.R, with co-driver Kelly Collins. The duo scored a season-high 4 wins, 2 podiums and six top 10 results.

Took the win at Monaco in the Monte Carlo Historic F1 race, driving a vintage 1976 Penske PC-3 Formula 1 car.

 

 

2007 GM Factory Driver
Finished 2nd in Rolex Series GT class point standings with Kelly Collins, posting wins at Barber and Miller Motorsports Park, and a close 2nd in the Rolex 24 at Daytona, racing the newly developed Pontiac G6 GXP.R for Leighton Reese’s Banner Racing.

 

 

2006 GM Factory Driver
Scored 3 Rolex Series GT class wins at Mexico, Homestead, and Phoenix alongside Kelly Collins in the GTO.R, with TRG finishing 3rd in final point standings, and logging 11 top 10 finishes. 

 

 

2005 GM Factory Driver
Partial season, as car was still being developed first half. Posted GT class win and pole at Phoenix, and win at Mexico City in Kevin Buckler’s The Racing Group, TRG's Pontiac GTO.R.

 

 

2004 GM Factory Driver
Signed on with GM, and helped develop the Pontiac GTO.R with GM and Pratt and Miller. Made two starts in Daytona Prototype for Crawford Racing, finishing 4th in both events.

 

 

2003 Red Bull Junior Driver
Dallara Nissan World Series

 

 

2002 Red Bull Junior Competition
Selected as the first pick of the competition and got a full ride with Red Bull for 2003.
Factory Audi Team in World Challenge

 

 

2001 British Formula 3
Partial season due to funding considerations, but had success with a pole position, 3 podiums and several top 5 finishes.

 

 

2000 Formula Palmer Audi Championship
Backed by Audi Sport USA
Formula Palmer Audi Winter Championship in England
Represented Team USA again and won the championship.

 

 

1999 British Formula Opel
Won the championship.
European Formula Opel
Finished 3rd in the Championship.

 

 

1998 European Formula Opel Winter Championship
Won the Championship while representing the Team USA Scholarship.
Team USA Scholarship
Was selected, again, to represent the USA in Europe as part of the prestigious Team USA Scholarship.
Formula Renault Sport
Competed in select races due to limited funding.

 


1997 Team Green Academy
Selected as one of America's top ten most promising up and coming drivers and a top 5 finalist.

 

 

Formula Ford World Finals
Represented the USA through the Valvoline Team USA Scholarship. Sat on pole and won both the quarterfinals, semi-finals, and retained the track record at Brands Hatch. The finals resulted in a crash due to an error by a fellow competitor, losing the podium in the last corner of the checkered flag lap.

First American in two decades to win a round in the British Championship. Battled for the championship for most of the season.

Swift Factory Works Driver - British Formula Ford Zetec Championship Series.

 

 

1996 Rookie of the year
Set two track records with multiple dominating performances, pole positions, and podiums in the first year of competition.

Outside the Series, 3 pole positions and two 1st place finishes in Formula Ford Kent 1600.

Winfield Racing Driver’s School - Circuit Paul Ricard, France.

Winner of the Full Scholarship to the 1996 Formula Renault Elf Campus Series after dominating the two day competition consisting of the top ten international competitors.
